Michael Hurley / Precious Blood / Fourth of July (early all-ages patio show)

Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, 6 p.m.

Description

Michael Hurley's first album was on Folkways in 1965. They thought they'd discovered the next Bob Dylan, but he veered off in his own directions, and more than 20 albums later, he continues to do so. He's acclaimed by many critics, though unknown to many music audiences. He's been covered by Cat Power, the Violent Femmes, and Vetiver, even had a song featured on HBO's Deadwood series. He's like no kinda folk you've ever seen. Hurley will also perform Sunday, Aug. 17 at Love Garden (time TBA). Openers Precious Blood are Hurley's friends and musical compadres, Amy Annelle and former Bad Livers fiddle player Ralph White.
